The last time I posted a blog was three months ago. Wow time sure has flown by. I can't believe that my kid is nearly 19 months old. He has a lot of energy and has kept us busy. He surprises us all the time with his new words and last night he was talking quite a bit, and I finally caught it on video. Enjoy! This video was too cute. Ryan was giving Jack a bath and I heard some contagious laughter coming out of the bathroom. Jack and Ryan had been laughing at least a minute prior to me entering the bathroom with the camera. By the end of this video you will be chuckling too. Enjoy.

We decided to go to Larry's produce the day of halloween to get some pumpkins for the front of our house. We ended up with 5 since it was only 5 dollars to fill up your wheelbarrow. We could have gotten more, but we figured 5 was enough. Jack had a great time checking out the different kinds of pumpkins and finally getting a wheelbarrow ride from daddy.

The last post was in September, 2 months ago. Sorry to those who have been checking his blog faithfully. Whoa...time sure has flown. Jack is growing by leaps and bounds, and he is just as handsome as ever. He is starting to say more words each day and he is surprising us with how smart he is. He running everywhere and adores Mickey mouse, loves watching airplanes and playing with his cars. He is starting to use a fork and a spoon during mealtimes too. I am adding pictures from the past couple of months to catch you up on the everyday happenings of our guy.

I just realized that today was the last day of August. The last posting I made was exactly a month ago. Unbelieveable. I am so far behind especially for my faithful followers. I promise to be more diligent in posting the happenings in the Shaw family. This month was an exceptionally busy one beginning with Jack's 1st birthday with a huge backyard swim party at Grandpa and Grandma's Shaws house, going on vacation to Carmel, and starting up the school year again. In fact, I have already been back to work for three weeks. Our weekends have been packed with activities, and hopefully we will be able to slow down and just enjoy not having anything to do but just hanging out with our precious boy Jack. Enjoy all the pictures from the past month!

Jack loves the water. Everytime he goes in he becomes more brave. This time at his friend's birthday party, he decided to put his face in. Of course mommy was a little startled, but he came up all smiles.

Jack has this new thing for water. He loves to play in it, drink it and water the plants and the grass. The other day when I was planting, he found the hose and sat there laughing and giggling.

Jack has been quite mobile. If fact, he has been cruising for at the past month and believe me we have been chasing him around making sure he doesn't get into things. It is interesting how fearless this kid could be. If he falls down, he cries...but then he is back up again. One toy he loves is this 4 in one tykes toy. He will press the buttons to make it light up and play songs, spin the toys on it, but his favorite thing is to find a way to step on the chair and climb up.

Our annual garage sale in our neighborhood is always the first weekend of May, and this year, Ryan myself and Jack were able to cruise the streets to find that perfect deal. We should have opened shop but with a new kid on our hands, it made it a little more difficult to wake up so early in the morning. Our neighbors across the street have two kids, the youngest one 3 or 4 years old, so each year they have some really nice things up for sale. I happened to walk outside to get Jack's stroller out of the car, and lo and behold out of the corner of my eye is the exact radio flyer that we wanted to get Jack for his 1st birthday. These things are pretty pricey, at least this model runs 120 dollars. I happened to get this steal for 40 dollars! It happened to be in perfect condition. It definitely has been adopted to a good home. The moment Jack sat in it you could see the sparkle in his eye.

Spring Break

Our first official vacation as a family was spent at Lake Tahoe. Being our first trip with a child, we over packed. I guess live and learn. Hopefully the next time we get away we will know what to bring. We had a good time. We had both sets of grandparents there, so Jack had lots of quality time with each of them. Here are some pictures of the trip.

It actually snowed mid April. Jack saw his first snow, but we didn't capture any pictures with him in it. Bummer, I guess we will have to wait till next winter.

Jack's new trick is pulling up on things. He loves to stand. If fact, if he can get grab onto it, he will begin to bounce up and down. It is the cutest thing ever. He gets a super big grin on face and is as happy as a clam.

Brown Bear

Jack loves to have someone read to him. Our squirmy little kid will sit still once you get a book in front of him. One of his favorite books at Grandpa and Grandma Shaw's house is "Brown Bear What Do You See?" When we were at Tahoe during our Spring Break, Grandpa and Grandma, brought the book and our little boy, managed to get everyone to read the story to him over and over. By the end of the week, I had the lines of the book running through my head. :)

Everyone has their own style of reading the book to Jack, and Grandpa takes pride in making the different sounds each animal makes in the book.

This really is only the 10th time the book was read to me this week.

The eight am obsession

I love shopping online, so when I found out about babysteals, it became an 8:00 am daily obsession for me. I stumbled onto this website about a month after Jack was born, and even if I was up most of the night, I managed to take the time to turn on my computer and click onto their website. I would pull myself out of bed about 5-10 minutes before 8 am, turn on the morning news and I would click the refresh button numerous times so that I could actually get onto the website, since there would always be traffic. It was bad...it was a challenge to see if I could get the item especially if it was something I liked, like babylegs. There are always great deals, and such cute items, I wished I knew about this prior to giving birth, so that I could have seen all the cool hip items that were out there, for such a reasonable prices! Jack has been teething what seems like months now, and just recently he cut one and now he is on the way to cutting a second bottom tooth. I am hoping this teething is causing us to have the sleepless nights, so that soon we will be able to get back on schedule and get some shut-eye again. He will put anything into his mouth, to relieve some pain that he is having. He loves sucking on things including the brush in the pictures below.

This past Tuesday, was Jack's first picture day at stepping stones. We had a cute outfit picked out, but my photogenic little boy wasn't so smiley when he sat down on the chair to take his pictures. He didn't think the photographer with his little purple animal that giggled was all that funny. I think he smiled once, but when the photographer clicked to take the picture naturally Jack had his eyes closed and was looking down. Luckily, prior to going to school, I was able to shoot some candids at my parents house.

Foot Rest

Ginger our 15 year old dog has turned over a new leaf. She was so unsure of Jack when he was born. In fact, she wanted nothing to do with him. She would go into the other room when Jack would cry, and even sleep in the garage to avoid the noise. Lately she has been showing some interest, and sniffing him. Jack thinks that Ginger is the funniest thing and he giggles when she walks by. The other day, Ginger laid down right next to Jack while he was playing on the floor and she didn't mind that Jack used her as a foot rest.

Jack had a foot rest and Ginger was loving the foot massage.

Supervisor Jack

Yesterday, I had to take off part of the day because we were having an issue with a leak in a water pipe in our front yard that lead to the house. Thank goodness the fix was a lot easier than we anticipated.

After resting from his afternoon nap, Jack had to check out the situation in the front yard, and he made sure that his Lolo, Grandpa and Dad were doing the job right.

Jack is such the jumper. He loves his exersaucer. I am going to be sad when we will have to put it away. He still has a couple of more inches until he outgrows this toy. This kid can get this jumper going so fast, it cracks both Ryan and I up. We think that his jumping is helping his legs get bigger and stronger : )

I hope that this kid likes hats when he gets older right now he doesn't have a choice :0) I love making new ones for him, and finding ones that are too cool, and cute! Here are a couple of his newer ones.

This pattern was bought from one of my favorite knitting stores pick up sticks, and I got it knitted and felted, before the knitting convention. Jack was a hit with all the ladies there. He definitely made a good model.

I found this pattern on etsy, and tried my crocheting skills. Not too bad eh... It took me a couple of tries of crocheting, and ripping apart until I finally got it!

Jack is our little roller. We moved our coffee table out of the way so that Jack could have full reign in the living room. We still have to put little pillow barriers up so that he doesn't bonk his head on anything. Ryan and I still have to babyproof the house. We can't leave him alone or this little guy will get into mischief. I know it.

Rice Cereal

Jack is almost 5 and 1/2 months so we thought we would give it a go with some rice cereal. He intently watches Ryan and I every time we have dinner. He is sitting up pretty well unassisted, so we prepared the cereal with some breastmilk. For his first try you'd think this kid had eaten this before. He is definitely a natural. Of course... he had it all over his face. He did swallow the cereal, and hardly pushed it out with his tongue which is a good sign that he is ready to have something else besides milk.

Rolling in the New Year!

Jack has really begun to love his jumperoo. He gets in that exerciser and you think he was a baby kangaroo "joey". We can leave him in there for 30 minutes and he is happy as a clam. At least mommy and daddy are happy... it gives them time to get some things done around the house.

We woke up Christmas morning and felt so blessed that we could have a bundle of Joy this year. It was so much fun to celebrate with our little boy. I had to get a snapshot of Ryan carrying all the things we took with us when we went over to a friends for Monday Night Football. It is amazing how much a little guy can use. We pack just in case. Anyhow, apparently Ryan doesn't have enough hands because he is not carrying the diaper bag.

Investing in another thing for Jack...Yikes. Luckily, a friend of mine from work who has a grandson, let me borrow her Baby Einstein Jumperoo. We are grateful for not having to fork out extra cash for something he will grow out of so quickly. He loves this thing. It lets him work on strengthening those chubby legs of his.

Ryan and I love to watch T.V. However, since Jack's birth the amount of hours watched has drastically reduced by 75%. It is certainly a treat to watch a show without any interruptions. When we get to watch and Jack is in the room with us, he will do his best to crane his neck towards the tube, in this case, upside down. Jack is definitely one of our own.

In the past two weeks, Jack's new trick while sitting in his bouncing boppy chair is leaning forward. He is working on sitting straight up, and eventually will get there. He is a bit wobbly, but practice makes perfect. In the meanwhile, he has found his feet and he loves holding them.

Last sunday, we dedicated Jack. It was such a wonderful day. It was a reminder to us how God granted and blessed us with a beautiful son, and how Ryan and I want to raise Jack to know God. There were many family and friends to witness this special occasion.

My back is much happier since I got my new carrier in the mail this week. Thank you olives and applesauce. Being a first time mommy there are so many things we registered for that didn't work for us and things that we loved. I liked the bjorn in the beginning when Jack was much lighter. It liked that he could face out and check out what was going on, and that it was easy to put on. Once he hit the 15lb range, I noticed it was a lot harder to carry the guy without my back hurting 30 minutes later. I did some investigation, and came up with his carrier. Not only is the carrier fashionable but so much more back friendly. Most of the weight is distributed on the hips, rather than my shoulders. The cool thing was I was able to pick out my fabric.

So...because it was thanksgiving, we decided to weigh our little butterball turkey, and he tipped our bathroom scale at 18.4lbs. : ) Our little guy is certainly healthy. He turns 4 months on Monday. I can't believe how time flies.

Jack has finally figured out that he actually has hands. He has been batting at things for weeks, but last night while laying in his bassinet, he grabbed one of his hanging toys and stared intently at his hand. He also loves sucking his fingers, and at times his whole hand!
